This white lacy wonder ($160) was a must.
Mr. Magpie and I already celebrated our five-year anniversary a little early this year — I surprised him with a trip to NYC to hear our favorite jazz singer (Stacey Kent) perform live in Midtown; stay at the uber-elegant Carlyle Hotel; toast each other at Bemelman’s Bar (such a gorgeous, classic NY experience — there is live music and the walls were hand-painted by the illustrator who did all of the Madeleine books!); and enjoy several extravagant meals around the city, including at Felidia’s (one of our all-time favorite restaurants…they had a truffle-laced beef tartare and carpaccio dish. Enough said. Also, one time we saw Katie Couric dining there, and I am kind of obsessed with her. Hello, fellow wahoo. PS, she looks stunning in person.) and at the insanely delicious Maialino, where my gorgeous cousin works as the culinary liaison. The staff there treated us like royalty! I will never forget the weekend. I wore something very similar to this dress for the occasion with a red lip and my favorite shoe of the summer, Alexandre Birman’s leather tie sandal ($595).
But, Mr. Magpie had already made us reservations at a surprise dining destination for our actual anniversary, which is coming up this Friday (8/7). I am thinking about wearing the above dress with my Rockstuds ($1,095) and I have been daydreaming about wearing it with this YSL clutch ($1,050). It just feels like such a timeless investment to wear with pretty much any evening look. I’ll finish with these fun earrings from J. Crew ($88).
P.S. — The scalloped dress above also comes in a melon pink hue if you’re not so much into the white bridal look. But consider it…because…
