Terrible title, I’m sorry.
But I’ve been dying over marble lately.
I mean, what. What. WHAT. Love love love. Can these rooms already exist in my house?!
Mr. Mags and I just bought a new couch for our apartment (ob.sessed.!) and have been debating the style of coffee table we want in front of it. We both independently floated the idea of a marble-topped coffee table to stand out from the softness of the couch. This style from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams ($1,144) caught my eye, though the style is slightly on the modern side for me.
Also, I wish the metal was gold. This style from West Elm is almost perfect ($499), but it’s too short…and I’m not sure Mr. Mags would go for the slightly Hollywood Regency Era style.
{Psst – if we were going suns-out-guns-out with this decision, I’d totally invest in this Jonathan Adler wonder. Holy.moly. Do I love you. And again, I’m not sure how happy Mr. Mags would be with this.}
But there are other, less expensive, ways to get this glam, upscale look — check out this awesome gold-handled tray ($89). Lovely for a cheese-and-charcuterie plate —
Great offset with a bottle of bubbly (I LOVE Mirabelle, especially the rose champagne) in a fab brass champagne bucket ($75 — or check out this brass champagne bucket, on ridic sale for $29):
Killer alongside some fab gold-trimmed stemless glasses ($12 for S/4):
Or, how about a tablescape/desktop (desk below by Jonathon Adler, $1,950) with a great marble lamp ($425 — or get this equally-as-chic style from West Elm for a fraction of the price, at $99), this funky gold-dipped print (By Luciana, $18), and these gazelle bookends (Dwell Studio, $173 — or keep your eyes peeled for comparable vintage finds on Etsy, like this one):
Glam up your drawers with some gold-trimmed goodies, like this Kate Spade note set ($16) and lucite-and-gold office accessories from Russell + Hazel ($24 each):
Lovely if this is all offset by this elegant rug from Lulu + Georgia ($43-775):
Back to the kitch — how amazing is this marble-bottomed cloche ($99)?!
I also absolutely died over the styling of the pantry shelves in blogger Alaina Kaczmarski’s home —
Note the way she used a marble pastry slab to offset the mint green accents above! Genius. Get your own here ($129), or go small-scale with this round server ($10):
Alternately, check out these wood-and-marble paddles (also perfect for serving tapas / appetizers):
For those midcentury mavens out there, check out this marble-topped coffee table ($2,425) — great with a brass hurricane or two ($199 each), a cool tortoise box ($19), this amazing sculpture ($373), and some coffee table books, like this Louboutin lovely ($150):
P.S. – Love the tubular sculpture above but can’t fathom the price tag? Check out this Nate Berkus taper holder ($18) to get the look for far less. Of course, all of this gold leaves me lusting after Caitlin Wilson’s lovely pillows in varying gilded patterns ($65+ — I have her Navy Fleur pattern in our guest bedroom):
Ooh la la, MARBLE.
