February 28 Update: As a special banish-the-winter-blahs treat for my readers, the folks over at TepperJackson have offered to award one lucky magpie one of their flashy luggage tags! All you need to do is add Tepper Jackson as a friend on Facebook or follow @TepperJackson on Twitter, and then leave a comment on this post telling me where you’d like to go on your own little winter escape! A winner will be randomly announced this Friday, March 5th!
WhoWhatWear’s creative director Katherine Power (fab name) recently proposed that a white handbag is the It item for Spring 2011. And she’s right — there’s no better way of offsetting the bold, saturated colors of this upcoming season’s fashion profile than with a set of porcelain white add-ons. I’m in.
A large white clutch ($195, Elaine Turner) and some lucite shades (Pucci, $112, TheOutnet) are the perfect accents for a bright tangerine-colored dress ($298, Steven Alan):
Especially when punched up with a BRIGHT scarf in a light cashmere blend ($195, ChanLuu) and some pristine white sandals (Givenchy, $525, Farfetch):
Alternately, consider the bold effect of pairing a crisp white shirt-dress ($62, TheOutnet) with a bold necklace ($380, CoutureCandy):
Finish with some pop-of-pink blush ($27, Sephora), these un-freaking-believable flats ($240, AngelineTournier), and a wallet-turned-clutch (YSL, $305, Matches):
And…many apologies for getting seasonally ahead of myself, but I just can’t contain my excitement for SPRING — how much do you die over the idea of a simple tee ($19.50, Madewell) paired with a day-glo pink scarf, white jeans, and some raffia flats (Repetto, $255, Thomas Maier):
Finishes perfectly with this uber-cool DVF bag (love the tassel — $675, DVF):
Alternately, do you not love and live for this bright citrine dress ($106, TheOutnet)?
Some silver flats ($165, PrettyBallerinas) and a classic Givenchy carry-all ($1,550, Farfetch) are all you need:
Well. On second thought, perhaps this statement making lariat necklace is just the right finishing touch ($280, FlutterNYC):
Alternately, how about a BRIGHT necklace ($295, Kate Spade) peeking out from beneath a textured white jacket (Malene Birger, on sale for $380, 25Park) layered atop some skinny jeans and finished with some confetti-print heels ($285, KateSpade):
I’d add only this bold laptop case-turned-clutch in either screaming pink or shade-your-eyes yellow ($50, Net-A-Porter):
If you’re seriously bold, you might consider this neon yellow shift (Michael Kors, on sale for $404, TheOutnet) with a funky little silver necklace atop (Lee Angel, $80, TheOutnet):
Tone it down a bit with some white flats (Dior, $392, Bluefly) and a lace-effect cross-body bag (Lulu Guinness, $448, ASOS):
Finally, I’m personally obsessed with the idea of a white blazer with a coral blouse (DVF, $322, Matches), some skinnies, and some spring-ready minimalista chic sandals (Michael Kors, $150, Intermix):
The only thing I’d add? An oversized brown leather clutch (how to DIE for?! and it’s only $45! — American Apparel):
…and a long necklace (I can’t stand the thought of under-accessorizing…it’s a problem. $138, ShopBird):
Or spruce things up with a Jil Sander-esque orange blazer ($385, StevenAlan) with a silk tee ($72, Madewell), some white jeans, and some laser-cut heels ($204, ASOS):
I’d add only a statement-making necklace (and this seriously packs a punch — Fallon, $750, Kirna Zabete) and this iconic Derek Lam clutch ($890, Barney’s):
Anyone else ready for spring?!
Still
LOVE these responses. Now suffering from some serious wanderlust. Must.get.out.of.town.

DYING over that Steven Alan dress right now… The discovery of your blog is going to be so painful on my bank account! And what a fab giveaway you’ve got going on… my drab airline carry-on (why must functional travel pieces look so… well… functional?) could totally use a pop of turquoise and cobalt for our upcoming trip to Hawaii. Following on both Twitter and FB now!
aspen, colorado!
I would love a cultural excursion into Thailand!
I’d love to go tour Australia and go diving at the Great Barrier Reef, but I’d settle to visit family on Sanibel Island in Florida.
My friend’s honeymoon photos from South Africa look a-mazing. But keeping a bit more realistic/closer to home, I would love to escape to St. Thomas for a few days!
Ooh la la…Kamalame Cay and the Maldives sound uber-exciting at the moment…
Follow Tepper Jackson on twitter (@sarahbkane). I’m dying to go to the Maldives!
