The other day, I discovered Mr. Magpie’s toolbox in the hallway leading to our master bathroom.  I stepped over it and found my man diligently applying WD40 to the hinges of the bathroom door.

He glanced up, nonchalantly, shruggingly, and said: “You haven’t been sleeping well, and it kills me that this door creaks in the morning when I get up before you.  So I’m putting on some WD40 so it won’t wake you up.”

He turned back to his task as if he’d just given me the weather report for the day.

This is one of the most romantic things that has ever happened to me.

And with that preface: I’ve been daydreaming about re-creating the look below from one of the prettiest bloggers out there, Julia of Gal Meets Glam, especially with Valentine’s Day around the corner, and especially since I am feeling all the heart eyes thanks to Mr. Magpie’s modern day knightliness:

+The prettiest ruffle top ($275).

+Pretty floral pouch ($49) — I like the idea of adding a little puff ball to the zipper.

+I am literally obsessed with all things Vivetta these days — and this fanciful heart-neckline top ($400) is the stuff of dreams.  So fun.

+This strappy sandal is on sale for $76!

But my fav steal of the moment?!  THIS BANANA DRESS ($118).  I am ordering it in both colors.  This is SO me — just the kind of workweek staple I live in.  Juju it up with some fun flats or pointed toe heels and you are ruling the roost.

And, finally —

+This is the pretty dress Julia is wearing in the top pics (on sale for $199).  So elegant.

+I’m smitten with this sexy-retro silk dress ($238) from Anthro.  It feels sort of 40s but also very current.  Such a flattering shape, too.

+In a similar vein, how stunning is this $100 steal of a dress in the blush (though I also love that stripe!)!  I’m in love.

+Ruffles!  Red!  Less than $100!

+This dress is flirting with me.  And it’s on sale for $50.

+This tiered lace dress is super pretty ($98).  Perfect attire as a guest for a bridal/baby shower, or a tea, or a dinner with your mother in law…
