Shalalalala kiss da girl.
It’s Friday!
We made it, guys.
I’m geared up for a weekend with one of my best friends from college and her sweet husband — we’ll be hitting up a few of our favorite Chicago spots, including Little Goat, Parson’s Chicken + Fish, and the inimitable Fat Rice. These friends are very foodie-oriented, so I’m looking forward to a gourmet weekend, seasoned with some Olympics! I love this weekend already.
To distract us until 5 PM, here are some items on my radar:
I’ve been SO into these caviar sticks ($29) for eyes from Laura Mercier that my mom introduced me to. Swipe + go — and they last all.day.long. Bobbi Brown has a similar product with some great colors to check out, too. I also just ordered one of their cream eyeshadows in the pot form. This cream formula just seems so much easier to apply and it actually stays put. I find that with my powder eye shadows, the color is gone within an hour or two.
Is this silky jumpsuit ($73) not the chicest thing ever? It looks like the perfect thing to wear from day-to-night, and OH so comfortable. Navy for the win!
I hate to rush the arrival of fall, but it’s kinda hard to keep outta your mind when these cult classic Isabel Marant Dicker boots have been marked down from $600 to $228 in a totally perfect transition-to-fall hue. I imagine pairing these as easily with a late summer boho dress (this is perfection in the cream color! — although get the look for way less with this $52 lookalike) as I do with jeans and a cozy poncho (ahem, Gap — slayyyyy!).
I am freaking obsessed with this Self-Portrait dress (on back order in every size here; available to ship in select sizes now here and here, $395) — I know, I know, I have a problem. But they just have the chic-est, most unique cuts and mixed media. And Beyonce wore it to a tennis match recently, so that’s cool.
And while we’re talking dresses, I am going dress crazy these days — so many gorgeous styles on super sale. At the top of my list: this marked-down-to-less-than-$100 Rachel Pally lovely, which looks comfortable and forgiving; this $122 boho-chic steal, which would, incidentally, look fab with those Isabel Marant boots above!; this Zimmermann-esque linen-effect floral dress, marked down to $137; and this sweet Marysia cover-up dress. Do you DIE over the scalloped tiers?!
In case y’all have been doubting my convincing appeals that the denim skirt is the new new in chic street wear, take a gander at the snaps below. Even one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers, LoveTaza, is rocking the look like a boss.
Some good picks for us: this Frame Denim button-front style, on sale for $124 plus 20% off with FINAL20 code or this frayed denim wrap skirt ($60).
Other options: Madewell’s take on the style; this $40 style with patch pockets; this belted style, also $39; this pencil style from J. Crew; and this button-front style, also from J. Crew.
Love this dress (less than $100!) for work. Would make a great presentation dress with these velvet BR heels ($138, with 40% off temporarily with code BRFORTY!!!)
Love these organizational baskets — what great colors! (ahem, UVA colors) — and they’re on sale for $38 each.
OK, can I confess that I really want to try one of Kylie Jenner’s Lipkits? I’ve actually heard her matte liquid lipstick is phenomenal. Too bad they sell out in a hot second each time she re-stocks. (I’m 100% sure this is a publicity stunt to drive sales, but hey, it’s working…and also making it hard to get my hands on one!) Until then, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Bare Essentials Matte Liquid lipstick ($18).
I thought the adorable blogger behind Sequins + Stripes looked SO cute in this $98 Loft maxi (they’re offering $25 off this style right now!) So easy breezy for this warm summer days.
I love these running shorts from Lululemon ($58). A find that a lot of their other styles are way too short for my own comfort, despite the fact that I’m uber petite (5 feet tall!). I dunno ’bout you, but I just don’t need to be all out there while I’m running.
And, I’m still a sucker for the Nike Free Run ($100). Le best. So lightweight. I had been super excited to try the Nike Flyknit ($130) after seeing a ton of hype about them. I kept reading that they “feel like you’re wearing a sock,” and that they “hug your feet.” Well, I wasn’t the hugest fan — I always got a blister in the same spot and they were tough to adjust to in snowy/wet Chicago in the late spring/early summer months, because they’d wind up soaked through on so many runs. I’m still a sucker for the styling, though, and will keep mine for more casual walks with the dog in the morning.
