I’ve been traveling the past week — hence a little quieter here on the blog — and was able to enjoy a spa massage earlier this week. While I was floating out of my body on the massage table, letting go of all thoughts on my mind, tendril by tendril, the masseuse cradled the base of my head in her hands, and I realized how heavy our heads are, and how divine it feels to let someone else carry that weight for a minute. I found myself unexpectedly moved by how gorgeous it felt to be physically nurtured by someone else — in this case, a gentle stranger well-trained in her ministrations. I wondered then about what her life must be like — what she must bear witness to while caring tenderly for a stranger. How much she must accept, accommodate, receive — strong energies, physical ailments, emotional outbursts, for example? What might have surprised her at first? What has she grown to like and not like about the job? What strange or beautiful things might people have revealed about themselves?
Tell us today about your job, and the things that might surprise us about it —
The strange things that are actually fairly normal in your line of work?
The unexpected stressors?
The things that you don’t bat an eye at anymore, but that other people might find uncomfortable?
Equally — what are the outliers in your line of work? The one standout student, the tough patient, the wild customer?
Curious to hear about the nitty-gritty of your work. What gives it texture? What gives it meaning?

Shopping Break.
+New arrivals I’m loving at Tuckernuck: this octopus embroidered button-down (would wear as cover-up) and this tunic.
+Brought this luxe face wash with me on vacation and it’s exactly what I crave at the end of the day. It has a creamy texture with tiny exfoliating beads and it really leaves skin soft and pampered. I have used this face wash in the past and truly love it — had forgotten how excellent it is, in fact. Comes in a handy travel friendly bottle too. Use code JEN15 for 15% off. (I use this after Elemis cleansing balm << good deal on it here.)
+Extra 20% off sale at VB! Use code FIREWORKS. Don’t miss eyelet pants, a cashmere striped hoodie (imagine with with white gauze pants/shorts for summer beach night), elevated ribbed tanks, this gorgeous eyelet mini.
+Eyeing this chartreuse linen dress for an upcoming event.
+Can’t stop thinking about this tote. I have a straw tote from this brand that I’ve worn constantly for two summer seasons and might want to add this to my closet. So different — you rarely see this brand out and about! — but classic and beautifully made.
+Also love this canvas striped tote.
+My mom wore this gauze set in navy for travel day and looked so chic in it.
+I think I need this tomato dress.
+The detail work on this blouse!
+One of my most-worn swimsuits is currently under $75 here.
+Also included in the J. Crew sale: a perfect striped dress, this bestselling woven bag, this blockprint midi, and these fab pants.
+Two dresses I love at Cleobella right now: this and this.
+I’ve been living in these shorts this summer. They are the perfect morning shorts — throw on for a walk outside, coffee run, errands. They are athleisure, but elevated.
+Speaking of athleisure / athletic wear, just ordered these bike shorts and this sports bra from new-to-me fitness label Form.

Happy birthday!!!!!
I added the Altuzarra watermill tote (in black) to my closet this year -after eyeing yours last summer! It is my favorite!! Impeccably made and just gorgeous. I have received so many complements & most people haven’t heard of the brand. It is so versatile- I carry it everywhere, even to my business-formal office. I just love it!
