I recently wrote a piece on one-piece bathing suits and how big a corner I’ve turned with them. This is an extension of that obsession (sorry ’bout it, bikini defenders). Basically I need to figure out a way to justify the purchase of one of these Lisa Maria Fernandez off-the-shoulder bathing suits ($430).
You see, a few years ago, I passed on this adorable Miu Miu pink two-piece that was all the rage for a season, thinking: “I’ll never regret passing up on a bathing suit…it’s only wearable a few times a season!” I was wrong. I think about it pretty much every time June hits and I’m looking at my bathing suit collection. This explains why I invested in my Marysia scalloped bikini — and have not regretted it once.
+At any rate, I’d wear the glamorpuss situation above with these Dior shades ($450) and polished gold sandals ($175).
+And — why not?! — some gleaming gold drops ($225).
+I’d lay out with one of these incredible Mexican beach blankets ($48).
+Preferably, cocktail in hand — especially if presented in one of these gold pineapples ($99).
+I never forget the SPF — and I especially love Shiseido’s non-greasy, easy-absorb formula ($40).
+Throw it all into this fab beach tote ($495 — these also caught my eye, from a Sardinian designer) and finish with one of these highly-sought-after Eugenia Kim hats (it says “do not disturb!” or “wish you were here).
+AND: AWESOMENESS ALERT — for those of you uncomfortable with the high price tag the Eugenia Kim hats command, check out these incredible affordable versions from Etsy storefront Hats by Olivia ($50 each!) I like the one that says “Yes Way Rose” and the one that says “Tequila por favor.”
+Throw on an easy embroidered coverup ($75) and you’re set. Though…have to say, I’m a touch more partial to the red print.
+Keep your fancy key ring at home and use one of these cool retro hotel key tags for sand-filled beach days ($8). This one is also pretty hilarious.
