Mix N Match.

By: Jen Shoop

OK, now for this week’s roundup of totally random things that have my attention.Pick1

I just started reading Gloria Steinem’s memoir and, while her politics may be polarizing (no comment personally — this ain’t the place for politickin’.  Gosh, as I write that, I realize the irony: she was a total believer that “the personal is political.”  But even so.  I’ll willfully ignore the implications because I love you readers and I want everyone to feel welcome here!), it’s worth reading.  Whether it challenges you or motivates you or angers you, it’s worth reading for the intellectual engagement and because she’s a damn beautiful writer.  I’ve mentioned that I have a particular affection for the memoir as an art form — in some ways, a subgenre of fiction, if you think about it.  People spinning their lives as they recall them, which may or may not bear alignment with reality.  Gorgeous, incantatory prose, occasionally over-dense in the sense that you may be rolling along in her imagistic paragraphs and suddenly realize you’ve glossed over an incredibly profound insight or claim, and you need to reverse and unpack things for awhile.  Not quite a beach read for that reason.  I tried to read this on my roof while sunning and realized that this is more of a rainy-night-in-bed-while-I’m-feeling-intellectual kinda situation.

Pick2

I am majorly digging this striped shirtdress ($59 — the shape feels super fashion forward) for summer work-to-drinks wear.  I’d pair it with some simple brown leather sandals (K. Jacques, $255).

Now this has to be the sweetest/preppiest bra I’ve ever seen ($55), from line Love Stories.  In fact, I love the entire line — including this and this.  Although I continue to believe that this is the best-fitting, most-comfortable, most-flattering bra in the world.

I’m a big fan of oils for face and body.  I wear a little of this every morning on my face and apply this liberally all over my body after every shower.  And I’m very curious about hip new line Herbivore and all of their beautifully packaged new products — including their well-priced jasmine oil ($26).  Snag.

Pick5

I recently re-discovered my Tarte cheek stains and have been using them liberally on my cheeks and lips as we head into summer.  They add a lovely little gloss and sheer color to the apples of your cheeks and lips.  I like the peachy-gold “Glisten” color in particular.  But now Laura Mercier has come out with her own similar product ($32) and I’m loving the colors!  May need to give this a try soon…

These feel like a birthday party waiting to happen (Loeffler Randall, on sale for $175).

How adorable are these monogrammed sleep masks from Etsy store The Sleepy Cottage ($16 each)?!

Pick8

I love the ease of this white romper on bloggerina Liz Adams of Sequins + Stripes.  I’m not normally much of a romper gal (with the exception of DVF’s Celeste style, on sale here in a great print, which is SO flattering and fun), but this has me thinking I might need to add a few to my summer rotation.  This ($100) would be fun for a beachy getaway — very Lilly Pulitzer-esque, and this is absolutely adorable (and affordable at $78).  And I absolutely adore this elegant white one — looks like a Zimmermann but much more affordable.  Also, this affordable denim OTS style ($44) would be precious.

Pick9

I’m wearing a gorgeous navy Self-Portrait dress to an upcoming wedding, and I snagged these earrings for the slap-happy price of $45 to go with it.  Love a good steal.  Available in lots of other fab colors here.  And P.S. — these puppies would be just as precious shared with a simple tunic (love this! $83! — looks a lot like this more expensive, but also on sale!, Joie style).

Pick10

These gingham lace-up heels ($238) are insanity.  Love love love with a simple LWD like this or this or this.
