Sometimes I find myself asking, “What would Aerin do?” (#WWAD.)
Bear with me.
You know sometimes you realize you’re actually a full-grown adult and that you’re too old to say/think “well, when I grow up…”? And you’re dealing with real-life adult stuff like debating between begonias and double impatiens out at the nursery and worrying about the drain in the backyard and trying to interview potential dog walkers while figuring out the monstrosity that is health insurance when you are self-employed?! You know, those moments. That’s when I realize: “Holy crap! People like Aerin Lauder who always seemed so much older and more mature than I and who seem to have their lives together are actually not that much older than I am. We are both adults and probably facing similar decisions in life.” (Well, her decisions on the day-to-day are probably very different, i.e., “How should I outfit the guest house in my fourth mansion?” vs my “Where can I find an affordable coffee table tray to replace the one that my dog just destroyed?”) But seriously, sometimes I’m just left gawking at how I came to be 31 years old, and I very much imagined that I would be super sophisticated and worldly — i.e., I would be someone like Aerin Lauder.
Who is Aerin Lauder? Check out this great interview with some awesome pics showing her sophisticated style. And check out her eponymously named ecommerce situation, Aerin, for gorgeous gifts and accessories for home and self. And also, these:
She just represents maturity and sophistication and femininity and I wanna grow up and be like her. Below, some pieces I’ve been eyeballing to get that patrician beauty / elegance now.
+This Needle + Thread gown ($750) is just beyond. (And PS – they’ve marked a few pieces by this label on sale at Net-A-Porter’s sale — check out this and this, both perfect for summer weddings and very Aerin-esque.)
+Metallic Aquazzura sandals ($675).
+Lele Sadoughi earrings ($198).
+For day, an absurdly elegant nipped-waist dress ($1,315).
+Perfect with some unexpected rope lace-up sandals (on ridic sale for $113).
+My personal dream bag, the Fendi Peekaboo ($3,950). #Goalz
+In this vein, how elegant and surprising is this one-piece in total unexpected brown (60 GBP).
+And how stunning is this maxi ($138)?!
+Amazing with these lace-up ballet flats, from Aerin’s line ($495)!
+And keep your jetsetting plans together with one of these Smythson journals ($260) — or in one of their simpler notebooks ($80).
+While talking about writing, how chic are these simple, understated thank you cards ($14)?
+And these Oscar de la Renta drop earrings ($290) stopped me in my track. They look like oysters!
+And, florals seem like a must for the Aerins among us. I love this Zimmermann sundress ($530).
+Perfection with these be-pearled sandals from Gucci ($695).
+These D. Porthault towels are ridiculously expensive but so freaking chic.
+Rose oil ($68) is my secret weapon — I put it on my face every morning to stave off wrinkles.
Love this post on Aerin. I agree!
