This past Saturday in Chicago was…dreamworthy. It reminded me of a day from last summer that I reflect on with oh so much affection. Mr. Magpie was out of town (missed him, but gave me the opportunity to self-indulge), and I woke up early to drive over for an early morning run on the lake. Then I stopped for a juice, showered, and drove downtown for a massage at the Waldorf-Astoria, did a little shopping, and spent the evening watching chick flicks with a cheese plate and a glass of wine. It was literal perfection. I want more of those days this summer.

And here are some pretty finds that will prime me for summer without breaking the bank.

Love this crochet-effect white top ($44!). Looks like a Self-Portrait piece but it’s super affordable. I like the idea of pairing it with my new favorite jeans for a dressed up-dressed down melange. Also check out these puppies from Levis, which I saw a fellow blogger ROCKING recently.

How fresh are these laser-cut espadrilles ($109)?! Also check out these super affordable TopShop leather laser cut slippers ($48).

Denim is mah best friend, and I haven’t seen a denim dress I haven’t loved in a long while. This funky ASOS style with the high collar and cutouts ($61) is just the kind of piece that adds a little panache to your wardrobe.

Get a flushed, happy summer glow with the help of Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow ($55). I’ve heard fantastic things.

How impossibly chic are these rose gold Monica Vinader “friendship” bracelets ($200 each)? You can pick from a rainbow of colors. Lovelovelove. PS — Do kids these days still make friendship bracelets? What about gimp? Did anyone rock out thousands of gimp keychains like I did?

OK, so I am not a Gigi Hadid or Kendall Jenner, but one element of their chic street style wardrobes that I’m intrigued by is the ubiquity of the bodysuit. They seem to layer everything over a bodysuit:

Um, girlcrush much? Thank God for companies like ASOS, which let you try the trend on the cheap. I snapped up this style ($19) to pair with my high-waisted denim…but also seriously looked at this and this. Depending on how well my first one goes, I may have to snap them up, too. Yeah, it’s going to make using the restroom a pain, but imagine never having your shirt untucked/ride up and a nice clean line?! Intrigued.

Old Navy, bringing the HITS this season! Check out this affordable ($14) scarf! Cute and wear with everything. I snapped up this buffalo check linen-effect popover ($29)…perfect with white jeans and simple slides. Also love this chambray throw-n-go dress ($34).

OK, I’ll try not to post too many more tassel earrings, but how great are these ($88)?!

I was so bummed that this scallop-collar shirt sold out at J.Crew before I could snag it. This is the kind of thing I love to wear tucked into jeans with some great lace-up flats for a casual but polished work lunch. So you can imagine my delight when ASOS released a similar version for only $35. DONE.
