I’ve never been a huge fan of Herve Leger — it’s one of those brands that has it’s own…personality, and that personality does not fit with mine. I think of HL and I immediately envision Lilly Galichi (sp?) of Shahs of Sunset, who I am pretty sure is the brand’s poster child.
That said, I wore an adorable variation-on-the-bandage dress I found at a small boutique by our old condo in Lincoln Park. It had the bandage effect (layers of fabric abutting on top of one another), but a fitted bodice and a fuller skirt. I know the way I’m describing it sounds hideous, but it was precious, and I wore it with hot pink Louboutin bow-toe heels (fairly similar to this Kate Spade style — on sale now!) and these oversized pearl drops($40), which many folks have mistaken for Chanel! At any rate, this has opened my eyes to the possibility of bandage-esque dresses that don’t make you look like you are a Russian wannabe socialite. Torn by Ronny Kobo has a slew of these fitted-but-more-elegant takes on the bandage style, like this simple but chic style ($388) with these dramatic Lele Sadoughi drops ($145):
I like this with the ultra-modern Alexander Wang Lovisa in pristine white (on sale for $245) with the ULTIMATE It-bag of the season, the Mark Cross Grace box bag ($2195, named after Grace Kelly!):
Check out this bag in action on the chic-est of the chic:
If the price tag of the Mark Cross style is too hefty, don’t fear. Some more affordable styles: an of-the-moment ice blue ($70 — pastels are so fresh right now, especially in the form of accessories and outerwear; have seen SO many pastel pink cocoon coats..check out this Tibi or this affordable JOA find); this Sophie Hulme ($675 — die over the heavy hardware in her styles; available in other colors here); this colorblock variation ($100); or this creamy dream (also Sophie Hulme, $727):
Into this get-up? Check out this Torn by Ronny Kobo style, on sale for $118!!! Would look fab with these Louboutins ($745). Alternately, the Alexandra style is on sale here for $118 and here for $89, and would look stunning with some nude Rockstuds.
