I’ve never perfected the art of French dressing — the minimalist-chicness of the Emmanuelle Alt style of s’habillage. I tend toward the maximalist, especially when it comes to footwear. And yet. How impossibly chic is the pairing of a classic white button-down and denim of your choice?! I must take a page out of this book.
I’ll recreate the look with this linen button-down ($79) and — guys, brace yourselves — flared denim (MIH, $230 — or this pair from J. Brand, on sale for $141, which I just snagged) and some grown-up heels ($795):
Love this with the perennial coolness of a Clare Vivier clutch ($200):
Also possibilities in my calculation of the perfect denim-button-down combo:
+This perfect shirt from Frame denim;
+My favorite distressed J. Brands;
+This simple Coach crossbody, currently at the top of my lustlist;
+A roomy Madewell button-down;
+Uber-distressed, light-wash Frame denim, marked down to $159! (PS – Check out the full Intermix sale, which has some delightful finds, including a heavily-discounted Jay Godfrey romper; rad IRO booties; a Marysia bikini — hard enough to find these suits in stock in your size, let alone on sale!; and, my personal favorite, this Missoni crop top. I want to rock that with a high-waisted white pleated skirt like it’s nobody’s biznass.
I love this look! I always try to mimic it, but I find it to be so difficult to find the perfect white button down that doesn’t look like you’re going to Sunday School as a kid. This JCrew linen shirt is a great one though I might need to try that!
Yes – I’ve heard good things about that button-down! Check it out!!!
