A roundup of things that have caught my eye for the month of May, starting with the Sparrows Weave bag (and entire vibe) seen above. If my post yesterday didn’t convince you that you need breezy white dresses and straw bags, the photo above might. (P.S. — Voluminous dresses similar to above: this $35 steal, this Cecilie Bahnsen, this Bahnsen lookalike.)

More beautiful finds:

From top to bottom:

+New-to-me label Daydress! Absolutely love this elegant floral button-down dress.

+Vintage stamps from Etsy shop Enfield Post — because why not take the time to doll up a hand-written note?!

+Bespoke, hand-painted plates from Laboratorio Paravicini. Swoon! I’m dying over their hot air balloon plates in particular. I also came across an excellent source for beautiful vintage plates on Etsy: Willow Road Interiors. A set like this would be perfect to mount on a wall in a dining room. Such a chic alternative to artwork!

+Sharon Santoni’s Instagram account — she has the dreamiest home in Normandy, France. I want her life! To channel it, I’ll be ordering a lilac candle (“Pool House”). One of her posts featured a small copper covered butter dish that I was convinced I needed. I then found two more affordable (but equally chic) options — this for $4! and this, which is more similar to the one Sharon has. Who knew my bread service needed this accoutrement? Can’t wait for mine to arrive!

+Mark D Sikes perfection, per usual — featuring a reasonably-priced area rug from a recent collaboration. (Another one of his striped rugs made its way into a roundup of my favorite rugs a few weeks back.) I can’t wait for his new coffee table book to come out. If you don’t own his first, you’re missing out! Beautiful to display and so elegant and inspiring to thumb through with a glass of wine at night.

+Did anyone else catch the Swans for Relief performance? Twenty two ballerinas from across the globe danced “The Swan,” whose music you will recognize, in order to raise money for dancers who depend on performance income to cover basic necessities like rent and food, but who are unable to perform at the moment. So moving, and so achingly beautiful! (Also, Misty Copeland performs from her New York apartment, which is in the same building as a good friend of mine! Small world.) Inspired, I have been eyeing this gorgeous coffee table book.

+I first mentioned Italian childrenswear brand Il Porticciolo in a post on new children’s clothing discoveries last week, but — OH! How I love these matching mommy and me dresses! I ordered the white for myself and the lemon print for mini since I couldn’t find matching ones in a color I liked with her size available. So sweet. (H&M also has a sweet mommy and me set in white eyelet, and then this is beyond adorable, with this one for a mini. Have a boy and want to match? Try this Innika Choo on you and this on him!)

+Just discovered the sweetest stationery from Dear Annabelle. Especially love these pretty notepads, which come in an elegant keepsake box — great idea for a gift for a list-lover. (Along with my favorite pens.)

What’s caught your eye recently?

P.S. If you’re looking for a delicious, slightly festive (but easy!) weeknight meal, try this.

P.P.S. Microtrends I love, musings on getting back into a groove with running, and my last round of inspirations.

P.P.P.S. What are you reading/listening to? I’m reading Ghosted and about to start listening to Lady in Waiting.

  1. LOVE that W-S butter keeper, and I’m with Mia — I’ve been sending a lot of letters & cards lately and love to have beautiful stamps. I have such a large collection of Forever stamps that I am ashamed to say I never even considered sourcing some pretty vintage ones! Love this idea, though.

I’ve only made a few non-grocery purchases lately, including some adorable face masks by Clare V. and a couple of pieces from Tuckernuck to wear on my birthday next month (!) I also have really been eyeing some books, although I have quite a few I already own & haven’t read yet. Next on my list to buy is Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane — have heard good things!

Oh, and I really want this tie-dye jumpsuit from Loup, but can’t decide if it’s too OTT: https://louponline.com/collections/tie-dye/products/rainbow-tie-dye-slate-coveralls?variant=32335653568592

    1. Never over the top enough…ha! I say go for it. Then again I’m the queen of impractical footwear…

      Yay!!

  2. Oh man what HASN’T caught my eye recently… I am approaching closing on my new apartment purchase (!) so am spending a lot of time trawling the internet for decor ideas, paint color inspo, etc and finding Instagram to be a good way to organize my findings. I never did get into Pinterest but by creating different bookmark folders on insta, I can compile images I am drawn to, then review them and see the common themes that jump out.

  3. Vintage postage stamps: love!!! What a great idea. I’ve been sending snail mail to friends lately, it’s always been such a simple pleasure for me (and a delightful surprise for the recipients, as they have shared!)… and now my toddler has gotten interested in it too after watching me so she also sent cards to a couple of her friends with her scribbles and stickers, and we enclose an extra sticker sheet. Vintage stamps definitely add something extra! I’m all for infusing extra joy and beauty into our everyday.

I have and love C & B’s glass butter dish — aside from butter, I use it to decant small amounts of jam too as I try to avoid getting buttery and breadcrumb-y spreaders into the original jam jars. Sure I could use a different spreader, but no one in my family listens to me 😉 The copper bottom one is so beautiful!

Re: Swans for Relief: so moving! I’m deeply, deeply thankful for creatives and the art and beauty they share with the world, especially at a time like this. You also might enjoy “Closer” by Benjamin Millipied. I can’t stop listening to Philip Glass’ piano pieces because of it.

As to what’s caught my eye recently… I have been eyeing Cuyana’s new drawstring bucket bag in the light blue color… but ugh do I really need another bag?

Lately I can’t seem to find the energy at night to read a book, but I always enjoy The Splendid Table podcasts. My daughter gets about 20-30 minutes of iPad time and I listen to The Splendid Table with my AirPods while I cook dinner. It’s been an enjoyable way for me to partially “check out”. More recently I enjoyed Samin Nosrat’s (of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat) podcast — her laugh is infectious and I found myself laughing along with her!

Yikes, I feel like my comments on your posts are always so long!! Thank you for the space for conversation 🙂

  4. I tried to read Ghosted, but it wasn’t for me! It went on my DNF list!
However I loved Lady In Waiting! Such a real authentic quality to the book. Never knew the origin of Mustique, which was quite fascinating to me!
    Enjoy!
