Celebrating Halloween.

By: Jen Shoop

It’s officially October, so bring on the Halloween plans and decor! I’ve been sprinkling in some great Halloween finds over the past few weeks of posts, but thought I’d collect them and a few new fab finds in this Halloween shop (shop below, too) and mention a few notes:

+If you can’t be bothered with wearing a costume yourself, grab a great sweater instead like this or this, or an orange half-zip with jeans and velvet furlanes! Also love this saucy peak fall top with high waisted black denim.

+If your school or play group has prohibitions against candy/treats but you still want to send something fun in, check out these cute Halloween-themed fidget toys. Imagine wrapped up in cellophane with a bow and a little gift tag like this.

+My children’s Halloween pajamas were just marked down to 25% off!

+If you are on the hunt for a Halloween outfit for your little (pre-costume), a few favorites…

P.S. Halloween costume ideas.

P.P.S. I have been thinking about this post on the early grief associated with this pandemic. Things have progressed and changed so much since that post, and I can’t yet contextualize it.

P.P.P.S. Something new I’m collecting.

  1. A little unrelated but my grandson and family, my son , wife and 1 year old are moving across the country soon. It is our first grandchild. We are so thrilled for their next adventure, yet very sad to think of our new reality of not seeing them 2 or 3 times every week. Our retired lives have been filled with so much joy from the birth of our grandson. Any suggestions on how we maintain a loving presence in their lives.? We will travel as much as we can, yet we know that it will obviously never be as easy as we had it! Thanks

    1. Oh this must be so tough for you, Laura :(. I’m sure they will miss having your close. Two thoughts: my mother reads two books every Sunday to all six of her grandchildren, two of which live on a different continent, using FaceTime. It’s such a nice way to share my mother’s love of books while having a focal point for six young children. I have an aunt who FaceTimes her granddaughter every night to say goodnight! Just very briefly, but it’s a part of the bedtime routine. I feel like it might be good to think of a similar drumbeat — every x night, FaceTime. Sometimes it won’t happen, but it’s a standing date.

      xx
