Blocked Out

One thing I realized in reflecting on my post about new street style trends last week was the prominence of colorblocking.  I mean, one look at this Giambattista Valli coat (70% off — but still $894) and you know what’s up.  I like it with a simple collar necklace worn flush with the coat’s collar ($565 — or get a comparable look with this $55 style):

I’d pair this with these un.be.liev.a.ble Choos ($1,150) and this ladylike doctor bag (Z Spoke, $495)

Love a ladylike, prim look now and again.  For something more casual, consider this colorblocked sweater (~$200) with leather pants and some studded flats (Michael Kors, $150):

Too delicious.  Cobalt has been in recent heavy rotation in my closet, so I’m leaning towards this layered/blocked silk tank (Boy by Band of Outsiders, $255) beneath the most amazing mixed-media leather jacket (so cool!  — Maison Scotch, on sale for $278), with black skinnies and these BANANAS boots (Aquazurra, on sale for $497):

Finally, still in that cobalt family, albeit slightly a-seasonal…this eyelet top (Tory Burch, on sale for $210) with a fun necklace ($145) and this surfer-chic skirt (Tibi, $315):
