Partie Deux of the latest installment.
Q: A lounge set. But a cute, not frumpy/baggy one? Like ballerina post-rehearsal vibes.
A: I love this inspo! I love this set from Mango in the ivory color and I just ordered this set from Target — the eyelet detail and fit are so cute.
Q: Flower girl dresses for a five month old.
A: Too sweet — I would reach for either Luli and Me or Feltman Brothers. Both offer sizes as small as 3M and are traditional/formal. I love the crib Mary Janes from Elephantito to go with these looks!
Q: A traditional but low-profile/minimal — and extendable! — dining table.
A: Exciting! I remember agonizing over this decision, too…a few that read traditional but not ornate:
A BIT MORE OF A STATEMENT WITH THE COLOR CONTRAST BUT SO STYLISH
*We have bought a couple of pieces from Room & Board and I am consistently very impressed with the quality. I would say a class above Pottery Barn, West Elm, etc.
Q: End tables that have storage (like a small chest).
A: I think this Crate & Barrel might be what you have in mind — attractive and functional. This one is so clever — love the pull-out tray for drinks! For an industrial-meets-rustic vibe, this one is well-priced and interesting, and for something very traditional with less storage, this one.
Q: A white feminine blouse with no strings and no high neck — we need to see some collarbone!
A: This one is gorgeous, and I guarantee this will be a workhorse in your closet. This Brock is also stunning.
Q: Nice pajamas.
A: For super-soft comfort, my favorites are Lake Pajamas, Recliner, and Eberjey. For a more traditional cotton poplin situation, I love J. Crew’s classic vintage sets. If you’re a nightshirt gal, how cute are these ones from Gatopard? And for nightgowns: Hill House and If Only.
For even higher end, check out Charmajesty, Doen, and Lunya.
Q: Elegant but comfortable Zoom meeting attire.
A: It’s going to be all about blouses and/or cardigans. (I have been very into the latter this season because you can throw them on over white tees or turtlenecks or even dresses and feel so comfortable!). A few cardigans I love at the moment:
OLIVIA RUBIN (LOOK FOR LESS WITH THIS)
I’D NEVER TAKE THIS GUCCI OFF
For elegant blouses, I like…
P.S. Work from home staples here.
Q: Bridesmaid proposal gift — something small?
A: I love the idea of something personalized — a jewelry round, cosmetics bag, or this personalized straw bag.
Q: Early summer wedding guest dress — something long, floral, and unique.
A: I have a few roundups that might be good starting points — check out this list for gorgeous spring dresses, and this roundup of incredible Zimmermann sale finds (this is unbelievable, and I’m drooling over this). A couple of additions:
ANYTHING FROM MARKARIAN
Q: Cute but comfy toddler boy clothes.
A: This winter, I am loving Osh Kosh overalls or CPC longalls over cotton turtlenecks (white or printed) and Lacoste polos or Ralph Lauren sweaters paired with joggers or jeans. I also occasionally find him fun printed sweats from Zara. (He is a Manhattan baby, after all.). I pair those with pima cotton tees from Busy Bees or Lacoste/RL polos. For naptime/post-bath, I find lots of good lounge sets on Amazon, like this and this.
Q: Grand-millennial home decor to furnish a one-bedroom apartment.
A: Ooo! I have a post all about this subject!
Q: A classic/timeless watch for skinny wrists.
A: I have tiny wrists (child-sized) and one of my favorite investments I’ve made in my entire life was this Hermes H Heure watch. It will never go out of style and it brings me joy every time I look at it!
Q: Chic storage/organization and baby boy room decor.
A: I love the olive green Hampshire collection at Crate & Kids (especially this bookcase). The style is sporty but not too childish and the color is unexpected and fun. These S&L hampers/bins are great and attractive for stowing (and hiding) bulky toys, and — I mean — this as an elegant alternative to a toy chest (can be repurposed as child ages for end-of-bed storage!). I have lots more nursery storage ideas here!
Q: 1-piece bathing suits for playing with the kids after their swim lessons.
A: Fellow one-piece wearer! This post might be a good start. Specifically, I think the Summersalt bathing suits and Solid & Stripe Anne Marie style are decently priced and have a low likelihood of having a Janet Jackson-at-the-Super-Bowl incident, but both are fun and chic.
Q: Maternity swimsuit — and maternity clothes in general!
A: People love the Summersalt maternity swimsuit, but I probably would have searching for something less expensive since I swam so rarely while pregnant — I love this under-$30 ASOS steal (TOO CUTE), this cute striped style, or this flounced black.
My strategy while pregnant in colder weather was to live in really good quality maternity jeans (J Brand!) and leggings, pair with inexpensive Gap maternity tees, and finish with fun cardigans and statement shoes. I also found some good stuff from ASOS, like oversized denim shirts (Annie Banks while pregnant vibes) and unfussy black midi dresses — great canvasses for adding trendy accessories like headbands and earrings.
For early pregnancy — NAP DRESS LIFE.
