Rainbow Brite.

You know how there are those moments where an acquaintance suddenly crosses the threshold into true friend category?  Like in the classic, high-brow film Stepbrothers:

Dale: On the count of three, name your favorite dinosaur. Don’t even think about it. Just name it. Ready? One, two, three.

Dale + Brennan: Velociraptor.

Brennan: If you were a chick, who’s the one guy you’d sleep with?

Dale + Brennan: John Stamos.

Dale: [stomps foot] What?

Brennan: Did we just become best friends?

Well, in college, there was a time where an acquaintance of mine — ABabs, you know who you are — made an offhanded reference to Rainbow Brite and somehow this common cultural reference from our youth cemented the relationship.  I looked at her and said, “Done.  We’re friends forever.”  (She later dressed up as Rainbow Brite for Halloween, one of my favorite memories of her ever from our undergrad years.)

Rainbow Brite and Care Bears, though.  The best.  Do kids these days have such excellent cartoon role models / sources of future friendship cement?

These figures came to mind as I was sifting through my latest Pins and noting that a lot of them include rainbow stripes / bright colors.

Nail the look:

+Adorable Mara Hoffman statement dress ($398) in breezy linen.  (P.S., I’m majorly into linen these days.)

+Striped straw clutch ($128).

+Statement shirtdress ($125).  Look closely — there are some cheetahs in the fabric print!  Love all of these animal-oriented statement prints.

+Aquazzura sandals ($850).

+CUTE confetti-print Saloni dress (on sale for $357) — and P.S. you should check out the Moda Operandi sale.  So many amazing pieces.  They carry such high end labels that I usually wait for this sale season to make an investment purchase, and I am VERY into the brand Saloni.  I actually bought this dress of theirs ($475) for an upcoming bridal luncheon I am attending.  I like that they walk this line between elegant and playful.

Or, how about this amazing SEA NY top ($375)??  Also available in dress form.  Maybe paired with these statement espadrilles by Casa de Vera ($115)?

I’m also LITERALLY dying (?) over the thought of a colorful midi skirt ($495) with a bodysuit ($39).  Also love this similar Mara Hoffman midi skirt or this far less expensive colorblocked style ($98).

P.S. — Also love this $78 J. Crew lovely, which would be a perfect beach getaway piece, as it could transition from the beach to the bar in no time.  I guess I have the beach on the brain.
