Intactness.

profile of woman black and white

I came across this post from writer Brianna Wiest earlier this week:

I thought this was a beautiful expression of the way in which we must, on occasion, separate ourselves from what happens to us. Blurry lines abound here: we are, of course, responsible for our actions. But sometimes things happen to us that are well beyond our control and we must not let those happenstances fray, diminish, disarticulate. I love the visualization that we remain intact; we simply missed a chance to manifest that “kernel” to others.

The next time you do not get the job, the sale, the promotion, the opportunity, the result you anticipated —

Pause to examine what you could have done differently,

But do not let it corrode your sense of self or conviction that you contain what you need to succeed.

Protect the marrow.

Onward!

Shopping Break.

+These straight-leg vintage cords are everything I need this fall. Get the look for less with these.

+OK, major Isabel Marant boot vibes for less here and here. Especially digging those Larroudes!

+I wear my Emerson Fry Frances dress close to weekly. I have it in a summer pattern but am wondering if I need a fall one, too? How cute with ballet flats or booties or clogs?!

+More H&M goodness.

+Undergoing a major closet clean out at the moment. I ended up buying a bunch of these because I have a very narrow (10″ shelf) going around all sides of the tippy top of my closet and thought these would be perfect for stowing out of season pieces, or the kinds of items I cannot part ways with but are not really in my fashion repertoire at the moment. (I have so many differently colored pashminas, for example, that I rarely wear except for when traveling or attending weddings!). I also have tons of these cubes for stowing things like sweaters, out-of-season cotton pieces, etc throughout my closet. More closet inspo here.

+This lipstick in the bourbon rose color remains my longtime everyday favorite. It’s basically the only one I’ve worn all summer. It is super hydrating and has a great balm-like consistency.

+LR nailed it with this dress. J’adore!

+Happy little end of summer dress.

+This sweater for a little boy is precious.

+Perfect poplin shirt.

+Guess I’m just in an organization mood because I also organized all my office supplies, paper goods, and folders. I use these file boxes for important papers, and just got these pastel hanging file folders to compartmentalize.

+Just bought a bunch of these as bud vases for an upcoming dinner party — thought it would be pretty to have a bunch of tight posies of roses or peonies scattered with candles down the middle of the table. That way people can talk!
