A guide to my favorite outerwear this season below. I’ve also been tracking the suede jacket / shacket / over-shirt micro-trend and am working on a roundup of my favorites that will go live later this week.

01. Toteme’s fabulous scarf coat is still doing it for me. I love this season’s longer version, especially as styled on the site. So impossibly chic. Quince has a great look for less for under $200. If you’re looking for an “inspired by” versus “look for less” for the Internet famous scarf coat, you might consider this gorgeous Gap or this herringbone Sezane.. For a big splurge, this Joseph.

SEZANE // TOTEME // QUINCE // GAP

03. I feel like I’ve covered barn jackets a lot this season, but this denim Everlane is the one I ended up ordering (also available in non-denim options). Also love this Alex Mill in red (just recently made available again for pre-order after selling out), this Aritzia in the white, and this long version from J. Crew, which makes me want to wear chunky loafers or delicate kitten heel slingbacks (Hitchcock heroine vibes).

04. I keep coming back to this cropped, belted J. Crew wool coat in the olive green (seen above). Wow. I love her. I imagine pairing with my patterned Gucci tights!

05. This reversible shearling coat from VB is beyond. Mango has a chic look for less, again under $200.

06. Sezane nailed it with its outerwear this season. Love this cropped collarless leather, this quilted plaid (in my closet – runs really big, FYI), and the aforementioned herringbone scarf coat.

07. Obsessed with this toggle-button cashmere top layer from Sablyn. Also available in a chic camel here.

08. Fun quilted exaggerated collar style from Loeffler Randall. I love the way she styles pieces like this on her own Instagram account. Makes me want to live in pilgrim collars!

09. Spectacular double wrap coat. Aritzia has a chic option for less.

10. A few of you have asked for puffer/quilted coats that come down to mid-thigh — literally, two or three of you have had this exact spec! I’m assuming this is for cooler area residents who need more coverage. I love this Quince option. I also love my Everlane quilted liner jacket (have had for maybe five years now?), but it’s not particularly insulating/warm. I’d opt for the Quince if you are in sub-40 temps frequently, or this Canada Goose if you’re in Boston/Chicago/etc.

11. For fleece: Loeffler Randall or Varley.

12. For a true down jacket: Parajumpers, Canada Goose, Herno (this one with shearling is cool!)

13. I cannot wait to pull my Alice Walk wool cape out for fall. The chicest top layer! I found this style that is similar but a little less expensive. Looks very chic, too.

BIGGER BUDGET: TOTEME // SMALLER BUDGET: QUINCE

BIGGER BUDGET: CO // SMALLER BUDGET: ARITZIA

BIGGER BUDGET: VERONICA BEARD // SMALLER BUDGET: MANGO

P.S. What’s something you could never stop talking about?

P.P.S. My non-negotiables.

P.P.P.S. 10 I Love Yous.
