The HotList.

Do you ever go through those periods of life where you just have so many items on your wishlist, money is burning a hole in your pocket, and you literally need to force yourself to avoid your laptop to avoid the shopping impulse?  Hopefully this is not just me.  Sometimes I can be very disciplined.  This is not one of those times.  Let me share a few of the items on my current hotlist / recently purchased / in my shopping bag.

After one of my sisters told the rest of the sibs that boxing class was the iznit in NYC, my young sister traipsed to the nearest boxing club in Chicago (Title Boxing Club) and then promptly cajoled me into taking a class with her and…I loved it.  So much so that I went twice in a few days even though my muscles literally DIED.  I could hardly move the day after!  I was so baffled — here I am thinking that I’ve got legs of steel from all the running and spinning and this class KICKED.MY.ASS.  It was a combo of bag work, kicking, and then a ton of lunges, squats, crunches, jogging, etc.  It was brutal.  The only downside is that I’ve had to borrow the stinky (literally, so stinky) gloves they lend you at the gym.  So, I think I may purchase a pair for myself ($25) — is pink too ridiculous?  My sister has been lending me a spare set of hand wraps ($6), so I may need to snag my own as well.  (P.S., if you don’t know what wraps are, like I did, you have to wrap your knuckles in this long strip of fabric in a very specific way so that you don’t hurt them).

I also just picked up a new pair of leggings — how cool/sexy are these ($58)?!

Related to the above, I just picked up Ronda Rousey’s memoir ($18).  I’d heard good things about it, but just elevated it on my reading list given my new exercise routine.  She’s actually a UFC fighter (terrifying), so she doesn’t exactly do the kind of boxing I’m practicing, but…potato, potahhhto.

I buy a new candle about once a month — so fun to pick out new flavors that go with the season/mood.  Currently: Jonathan Adler’s Grapefruit candle (on sale for $31!) — I thought it was a cheery, fresh scent for the new year.  But for Feb?  It’s all about the romance.  I’m going for Diptyque’s new Rosaviola scent ($67).

I have a bunch of presentations and meetings coming up in the next few weeks for my new company, and have been on the hunt for work-appropriate pieces that aren’t boring and corporate-looking.  I’m a sucker for shirtdresses.  This style is so me, and on sale for ($109 — plus 50% off right now of all sale!).  Oh, and if you like the style below, check out this similar style in a cool print from Rebecca Taylor, on sale for $159!

Um, I may have an addiction to lipstick.  I just picked up Nars’ Angela, a gorgeous deep lilac pink, but a girlfriend raved about Nars’ Marisa.  So, I may need to pick that puppy up.

This black lace/eyelet top ($50) is a dead ringer for a piece from uber-popular line Self-Portrait.  (Speaking of, Net-A-Porter is doing FINAL reductions on its sale pieces, including this Self-Portrait top and this one, too.) Still, the style below is ohhhh SO much cheaper!  GET IT NOW.

Oh, and P.S.: Speaking of items that channel Self-Portrait, how chic is this Banana Republic lace tie-waist dress (on sale for $179, currently with an extra 50% off all sale items?!)

I love love love this fringed mini ($69).

Would these NOT make the most perfect Valentine’s Day gift ($335)?!

Or, if your man wants to splurge, this Anito Ko earring is pretty amazing.

I thought these black baskets were impossibly chic (cb2, $59 each).  I hadn’t been in a home goods store in eons and then had to pop in for an engagement gift and suddenly found myself wanting to redecorate my living room.

This chunky, oversized scarf ($25) is insane.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.
