While it’s true that J. Crew runs a promotion what feels like every other day, I had to take advantage of its 30% off coupon code this Labor Day weekend, because they’ve just brought back their classic 1988 rollneck seater ($69) and I had to have it in the millennial pink hue everyone is going nuts over, which I have heard described as an “ironic pink,” or “pink without the sugary prettiness. It’s a non-color that doesn’t commit, whose semi-ugliness is proof of its sophistication.” (OK, we’ll go with that…) I love the other two colors, too, though — I already have a great chunky navy knit that I routinely wear with white (after Labor Day, OMG, what a rebel) or I’d be all over that one, and, well, we all know about my obsession with marigold. (And not just because it’s my dog’s middle name.) But also, even the oh-so-chic Eva Chen snagged the sweater in millennial pink, so….
I also had to scoop up this ruffly white blouse, for which I can think of at least a dozen uses — under overalls! With a midi skirt! With jeans! With these pants! — and their classic rugby shirt, another item J. Crew has resurrected from its archives. I have no idea why I lunged for the rugby; it just called my name. The thought of layering it under a puffy vest while watching football seemed very enticing to me. (#Basic?)
P.S. ASOS also has 20% off all purchases with code LABORYAY, and I’d been eyeing this little red number for holiday parties, and this tailored pencil skirt for fall meetings.
P.P.S. I also placed a sizeable order from Gap, which is offering 40% off and free shipping — there are always things I want for minimagpie from there and with the changing seasons. I snapped up a few sweaters (the cutest fair isle one!) and some joveralls…
