Round UP.

Hi loves.  This Thursday’s special assortment of things-on-my-radar below, BUT FIRST: for all my Jane Austen gals, you HAVE to see the just-out-to-rent movie Love + Friendship, starring Kate Beckinsdale.  It’s based on a less-well-known novella of Austen’s and is absolutely incredible: sharp, hilarious, even savage in its humor.  Beckinsdale is incredible.  The plot is delicious.  Watch!  Tell me what you think!  I’m now keen on reading it as well — apparently it is based on Austen’s Lady Susan?  My sister came by and we enjoyed a lovely little sister movie night, complete with a beautiful cheese board.  I don’t hit up Whole Foods as often now that I’m a few miles from the closest one, so it felt like a ridiculous indulgence to go to their fromagerie and ask for three fancy recommendations.  I added olives, oven roasted tomatoes, cornichons, honey, and fresh peaches to the spread, and we paired it with my favorite baguette in the city (and MAN do I love bread) from Floriole.  I think they have the best bread in the world — almost as good as it comes in France.  At any rate, my favorite little pairing was whipped ricotta with a fresh peach and a drizzle of honey — BOOM.  My mouth is watering just thinking of it.  So treat yo’self: invite some girlfriends over, spend an ungodly amount of money on cheese, wine, and accoutrements, and rent it.

Beyond that, some things to make your Thursday:

I was on the hunt for a gender-neutral shampoo that Mr. Magpie and I could share (I’ve traditionally used this on my own hair) and realized that I really like the products used at my hair salon (Salon Trianon — the best!  I get my hair colored by Pam and my hair cut by Abby and both are geniuses), so I swung by there and picked up this shampoo ($26 — and the scent is perfect for both genders!) and its conditioner ($30).  I’ve only been using it for a few days, but I’m loving it.

But I’m probably MOST excited about this hair oil I picked up, also by the same brand.  My stylist has used it every time on my hair and I’m always obsessed with the scent (I literally smell my hair 234 times over the next day or two!) and love the way it really helps control my hair

I’m loving all these bare-shouldered-but-conservative-because-of-the-stripes tops I’ve seen lately!  This TopShop steal ($65) is at the top of my list, but you know I’ve also already waxed poetic about this similar J. Crew find ($59).

How hilarious are these brass key chains — one reading “town” and one reading “country” ($42 for set)?  I wish…

I just LOVE these striped, heavy-weight knit dresses ($32 each!)  The rainbow stripe one is my fav.  So easy and chic.

These shades are 70% off — now marked down to $108.  They are READY TO PARTY.

I know Fendi’s monster bag series (see here) is not for everyone and — I’ll admit — I have a hard time imagining spending several hundred or thousand dollars on something that feels a bit kiddish/immature…but these little pouchlettes ($350 for top, $300 for bottom) just make me happy.

These Jouer liquid lipsticks (I know, I’m obsessed with these liquid lipstick formulas — I’ve already blabbed about Kylie’s Lipkits and BareMinerals’ tubes) come in the BEST colors.

Do y’all have dogs?  I should probably do a whole post on dogs/puppies now that I’ve had Tilden for so long.  Tilly is the smartest, sassiest little lady out there, and she picks and chooses which toys to be rough with.  She’s absolutely shredded/destroyed a few — but then she has a handful (her squeaky duck and her squeaky rhino stuffed animals) that she’s kept around for the long haul.  I love to surprise her with new chew toys (especially after being very good / when I feel bad for leaving her at her doggie daycare for the weekend / when I want to distract her from my furniture…so, pretty much all the time) and I have to tell you a great secret: you can score some adorable, affordable ones at HomeGoods!  They have a pet section and I’ve snagged multiple precious toys for less than $5 there.  But then, I came across Waggo and was obsessed with their preppy, happy toy sets!  I love these buoys ($15 each) and these rope chews ($10 — Tilly LOVES this kind of toy).  I have a feeling these will show up under the Christmas tree for Tilden this year.

Disregarding the model’s sourpuss face, how incredible is this $138 eyelet dress?  That green is so unexpected, and I love the frilled sleeves.

Yes, we’re nearing the end of the summer, and if you haven’t invested in a straw bag, the days for its use may be short, but HOLY COW do I love this Clare Vivier circular bag ($199)!!!  Such a unique shape!  I also love this open-weave rattan tote ($100) and this tasseled lovely ($113).

Finally, a little bonus: an 11th pick.  I’m always on the hunt for great statement jewelry.  I’m over big necklaces for the most part (they got SO overdone), but big, dramatic drops?  Yes please.  Here are two great styles that won’t break the bank: these bejeweled lovelies ($60), these woven tassels ($60), and these loud-and-proud, large-and-in-charge beauties ($88). YAAAAS.
