Mr. Magpie and I recently traveled to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, an event coordinated in celebration of a dear friend’s birthday. The weather cooperated perfectly: it was a sunny, 80-degree, blue-sky day. (Some of our party even complained it was too hot — pssshhht. I’d take hot and steamy over endless Chicago cold any day. Truly, I would. I actually long for the dead weight humidity of summer in DC.) Having that little taste of summer weather had me reaching for brighter colors in my closet. Some items on my mind to greet the incoming weather:
How fab is this tropical punch-hued cover-up from H+M ($30)?!
Remember jellie sandals as a child?! These grown-up versions ($60) seem like such a fun addition to a summer wardrobe.
The most fun skirt ever (Star Mela, $173).
Serving bowl (Oui by Target, $19).
Miguelina cover-up dress (on sale for $119).
Electrolight bikini from Mara Hoffmann ($148 for top, $99 for bottom).
Classic tote ($178).
Tassel necklace ($65).
Marysia swim one-piece ($350).
Clutchski ($330).
Enormous floating flamingo inflatable ($70).
Turkish T towels ($45 each).
Cover-up ($203).
