Nightly Rituals.

Mr. Magpie was originally baffled by how long it took me to get ready for bed — “How does it take you 10 minutes?!  What are you doing in there?!”  But, my fellow magpies, don’t we all have our nightly rituals we need to put on lockdown?  Mine begins by taking the day off with Kate Somerville’s Daily Detox cleanser ($34), which came highly recommended from my sister.  I’ve since learned that people also go NUTS over Tata Harper’s daily purifying cleanser ($58).  When I need a little extra scrub, I used Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate ($22-175, depending on size):

BTW, after staying at The Carlyle in NYC earlier this summer and becoming obsessed with the uber-fluffy, soft, absorbent towels they use there — Yves Delorme brand (specifically, the Etoile line) — I splurged on a few sets for our home, and I swear to God, they make me happy every day.  Bloomingdale’s currently has select colors on sale here…OMG.

After I thorough cleansing, I go through my rose ritual: a spritz of Chantecaille’s rose water ($65), a drop or two of Chantecaille’s rose facial oil ($185), and Korres’ Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial ($48):

Then, a big dollop of eye cream (I use Shiseido’s eye cream, $55):

Now, I often shower before bed (there are few things in life I hate more than blowdrying my hair and I’ll do pretty much anything to avoid it), and my favorite regimen du jour is Oribe’s shampoo and conditioner for beautiful color ($39 for shampie, $42 for condish):

Is there anything better than climbing into your fluffy bed all clean and moisturized?  I can think of nothing more delightful.  Then its time for some cozy PJs — I love this pair from Equipment (on sale for $139), although new-to-me line Yolke has some pretty stunning sets as well ($350):

Also love my set from Eberjey ($98) and live in their teddies as well (love this).  Then it’s time for a little reading (currently reading H Is for Hawk below, $16):
