Mais, Oui.

It all started with this little dish ($28), spotted in one of my favorite gift shops in Chicago, All She Wrote.  I know I do not need another trinket tray.  My goodness, I probably have a dozen little dishes, trays, and decorative containers I’ve aggregated over the years.    And YET.  I look at this and smile.  It reminds me of the magical week I spent in the Ritz in Paris with my parents after I graduated from high school.

And it also reminds me of how much I love my parents and how helplessly and hopelessly in love with Paris I am.  This, in turn, fuels a desire to wear black-and-white basics, my own personal homage to the chicness of Paris, and to add some black-and-white items to my home decor wishlist.  Some lovelies I’m drawn to in this vein: a Paris print (Bodie + Fou, $56); a Karl Lagerfeld washed-silk shirtdress ($225); Tom Ford book ($88); absolutely stunning and chic black-and-white leather bag (Boyy, $895); Chanel weekend skincare ($115 — it’s supposed to be incroyable!); printed modal scarf ($125); white clutch (Belgrave Crescent, $135); an elegant monthly calendar that Garance Dore illustrated ($26);  the most perfect leopard flats ($268); a Mongolian fur pillow ($79); Byredo perfume ($220); silk J. Crew boyshirt (LOVE — $118); and journal ($30).
