In No Particular Order…

I had a beautiful Sunday with my sister — we went to Mass, got mani-pedis, and then had brunch together.  (Afterwards: a big fat nap, because, you know, what an EXHAUSTING day.)  There was nothing extraordinary about this Sunday except for that it was.  Do you know those days when you are suddenly hit sideways by how insanely, mind-bafflingly fortunate you are?  To have the ability to just jaunt around with your sister, indulging in happy little Sunday luxuries like pancakes and Cajun Shrimp nail polish and all the small and big talk that comes with sisterhood?  (And boy does it ever — mid-deep-conversation about relationships and expectation-setting, a casual: “oh, there’s a huge fly on your boob”, an inane inside joke, weird fake laughter.)  I feel like I’m always hurtling towards the “what’s next” in life, and I don’t take enough time to just slow down and appreciate all the things I have going for me right now.  It is one of the biggest challenges I have and I am trying to be more mindful of it.  Someone recently said that we should be extra thankful of all the “normal” days — days that go by quietly, with nothing remarkable, maybe, but just living happily and healthfully.  This has really hit home because I’ve had a few friends going through some tough physical and emotional stuff.

OK, so enough of that cheez.  (But I really mean it.)  Onto another list of items I’m considering du jour:

I blabbed about my skincare woes and then stayed up laaaate one night researching toners.  This little post from Glossier was illuminating and enough to send me off into a toner-searching frenzy.  I’ve heard magical things about SKII’s, but it’s $70.  WOMP WOMP.  To invest or not invest?  The other front-runner is this $21 guy from Kiehls, apparently used by a few models in the know.

I need some new PJs, and these owl-printed Marigots are on sale for $65!  This pattern is also pretty cute, and also 50% off.  But this elephant-print pair…too cute!

A lot of the prints remind me of another brand, Roberta Roller Rabbit.  I absolutely love her tunics — I’d wear this or this in a flash.  And their stuff for kids is beyond — this monkey print kurta?!  C’mon now.

I’m something of a Missoni fangirl, but the prices!  Oh la la, zut alors.  (P.S., when I was learning French, the textbook slang for “darn it” was “zut alors!”, pronounced: “zoot ah-lores”.  Little did I know that no actual French people use this expression. #LOSER.) I freaked and bought several of the Missoni for Target pieces that came out a few years ago, and I still wear them all.the.time and get so many compliments on them.  So now I’m in the midst of a deep existential debate (between myself and my bank account) when it comes to this deeply discounted top, available for $252 at TheOutnet.

Me: But it will look so good with white jeans for a chic night out on the town.

Wallet: But you could also save that money and use it for something practical, like the rug you eventually want to put in your dining room.

Me: But this is more fun.

Wallet: You got me there.

I also love the dress version (also on sale), and this stunning little mini would look BEYOND with a great tan this summer…

I am a huge fan of blogger Caitlin Fisher behind Daily Cup of Couture — super elegant, lady-like picks — and her Instagram is unrivaled.  She showed off this gorgeous top and I thought it had to be a Chanel or Dior.  But lo and behold, it’s a $50 steal that’s now been marked down to $35!  #HADTOHAVE

Need a little pick-me-up?  Check out these bejeweled flats, on sale for only $32.  I think I’m sold on the striped ones.

This simple ruffled peplum top ($75) looks so breezy-cool for these humid late summer evenings…white or pink?

I know it’s an oddball time to be buying a bathing suit (the summer is winding down! wait for them to go on sale!), but how funky cool is this one piece from Camp Cover ($125)?

I am smitten with these star-print rompers from brand Lioness ($80 for white, $80 for navy).  So cool, so sexy.  I’m worried about the cleavage situation, though — and they don’t seem like they can stand up to a camisole.

I love the idea behind this SPF setting spray — you know how you’re supposed to reapply SPF continuously throughout the day but you don’t because you’ll smudge your makeup?  This spray ($28) is the answer, and it smells like rosemary.

I love this floral romper from Joie, on sale for $180, end of story, k byeeee.
