OK, so are you rolling your eyes at this title? At this point, hydrangea is sort of #basic in the sense that every girl blogger on the planet posts her requisite iced-coffee-with-blue-hydrangeas-and-sunglasses pic on the reg. But guys, I can’t help it — they are the prettiest, fullest flower and they induce insta-nostalgia for the dog days of summer. I used them quite a bit in my wedding (now six years ago, OMG, what business did I have planning a wedding at 25 years old?!) and they were stunning. I had an incredible florist who flew a bunch of them in from Holland or something to get the perfect deep blue hue. She made incredible hydrangea garlands to hang around the reception ballroom at my country club, and had an ENORMOUS urn of them on the table where my guests picked up their table numbers. I’m talking HUGE — a big silver urn with just piles and piles of deep blue hydrangea. Dreamy.
So you can see why, despite their ubiquity on the Instagram feeds of bloggers, I think they’re far from #basic.
Also, look at these pictures.
