Hallow-ed.

Happy early Halloween!

Have I told you how terrible our Halloween costumes were growing up?  They were absolutely wretched.  My Mom was very supportive of our creativity but was not into purchasing expensive store-bought costumes.  So instead, we tended to cobble together makeshift costumes that made no sense.  I kid you not: my little sister once went as a “bell.”  A bell.  As in the the thing you ring.  My brother went as “a fat person” one year — wearing jeans that said “wide load” along the back.  How he even got out of the house without getting in trouble for the inappropriateness of this costume evades me.  I went as the Pillsbury Doughboy once.  Grimace.

Long story short, I’m not a huge dress-up-for-Halloween type.  I’d rather invest money in real-life dress up.  That said, I do love the Halloween color palette (black…black…more black) and have also been known to decorate for the holiday (subtly), especially with goodies like these pumpkins from Target ($12.99 for white; $6 for jute):

For a day-of get-up, I like this funky asymmetrical knit ($135) with a stunning scarf (Virginia Johnson, $195), black skinnies (J. Brand, $185) and fab orange-and-leopard flats (Kate Spade, $228):

Finish with this gorgeous patterned tote ($198):

Love the above tote — reminds me of this Dog Statue ($129), which I’ve wanted for.ev.er for my home.  Unfortunately, we don’t have much black in our front room — I wish this pup came in white!  It would be the perfect decor to juju up for Halloween with a little witches hat.  Other gorgeous home goods that could be excellent for fall/Halloween decor: this lip-print blanket (made of rabbit fur.  What.  What.  Gimme.  $1695); trinket tray ($20); a feu de bois candle (Diptyque — said to emulate the scent of wood burning on a cold day — $30-60); turtle objet ($45); a zebra upholstered stool ($459); a Paule Marrot cat pillow ($195); and a monogrammed tray ($44):

Other items for yo’self I lovelovelove include this knit hat ($128 – 20% off with coupon code ACTFAST); a jeweled-shoulder sweater ($90); these Louboutin flat boots ($1395); black-and-white flannel ($89, plus 25% off); some great bejeweled flats ($295); and a great black clutch ($51):
