I am headed to The Big Apple this weekend for a dear friend’s engagement party, and though I was hell-bent on “shopping the closet” (in part because I know I own 3489 cocktail dresses that scarcely see the light of day, and in part because I spent hours and hours perusing online and didn’t see much to my liking), I began to panic last week when I realized I actually hate everything in my closet. Well — less hate, more ennui in the fin de siecle style (i.e., yawn and look down with distaste). Does this happen to anyone else? Then I watched the Oscars last night (delightful) and wished I could step up my game. If I could wear anything this weekend, I would wear this gilded wonder from Lanvin. Don’t worry, it will only require that you re-mortgage your house and sell your car. (How can it cost nearly $7K?!) But isn’t she lovely?! Amazing with some mint green-accented earrings ($80):
Perfection with these crystal-embellished tootsies (Jimmy Choo, $1,150):
Check out the bling on these shoes — stunning.
Top it off with a faux fur jacket ($49), and you’re square:
I mean. I need it all. Orrr — NOT for the engagement party, but in the same palette — check out this stunning statement shirt ($150), which is at the top of my shopping list. I know it’s a little early to think about white jeans, but this will be a BANANAS outfit for the spring, especially with these stunning clips (Bijoux Heart, $530 — or, approximate the look with these fun, budget-friendly little studs) and some fun sandals (Kate Spade, $238):
Love love love. Or, how about this sweet jacquard skirt (on sale for $189) with a statement necklace ($39 – can’t be the price!) and a white sleeveless blouse ($46):
Cuff it with this statement piece (I must own this — $138):
and then round it all out with these classic heels (love that these Manolo-esque puppies are back in vogue…thankyouCarrieBradshaw — $695):
In closing, you need to know about two other gilded lilies (?) that I’m currently coveting and that belong in this metallic/frosted post: 1. These Zara shoes ($90), which my super chic little sis would totally rock; and 2. This woven wonder of a necklace from Lady Burch ($750).
