Espana.

Don’t ask me why, but the following assortment of black-white-marigold remind me of Spain.  And I LOVE Spain.  Have I mentioned the incredible trip Mr. Magpie and I took there a few years ago?  (Sarcastic, because, yes, I work it into pretty much every conversation under the sun.)  My sister is moving to London in a month (eeep!) and I’m looking forward to visiting her–and hopefully taking a little “holiday” to Spain with her and her husband.  And until then, some looks that remind me of my favorite country:

+Is this Fendi dress real life??  Costs a pretty penny but holy cow does it make a statement.  Perfect with these black block heels (Vince, $350).  (But get the look for less with these.)

+Fringed top (on sale for $29)!

+Funky-cool flats (on sale for $185).  One observation of the Spanish ladies I had was that they wear a lot of sophisticated, neutral basics, but tend to have a little playfulness in accessories–whether some cheeky shoes or any of the Fendi bags with the monster eyes (like this).

+Trumpet sleeve dress ($25).

+Superga shoes ($65) — another observation: many of them wear practical footwear, like simple white sneakers.

+Vintage Chanel ($2749).

+This dress seems like the perfect pick for a senorita, and it’s marked down from over $1K to $391!

+All the cool kids wear these Golden Goose sneakers ($495).  They look pretty chic with a little summer dress but I have a feeling I’m not cool enough to pull ’em off.

Now, one look I have been desperate to recreate after seeing a look like it on a Spaniard is an interestingly textured top (I DIE over this Veronica Beard one and it finally went on ridic sale, marked all the way down to $112 here, and available in more sizes here for $135…GUYS.  This was originally retailing for $450!) tucked into some tailored black shorts (on sale for $136).  Finish with my Hermes Orans ($680), et voila.  (PS — I’ve heard rave reviews of these Everlane leather slides, so if you like the Hermes style, this would be a good and affordable bet.)

But also — can we talk about this Veronica Beard outrageous sale?!  I already snagged the blouse above but am also eyeballing this shirtdress, marked down to $149, this fabulous Chanel-esque jacket (the details! the stripes!), and this va-va-voom bustier dress.

And, finally, a few pieces in the vein above — very Euro-chic: this ruffled top ($92), this marigold blouse ($84), and this Veronica-Beard-ish blouse ($77).  This white romper is very European — very Zimmermann, in fact!, but for much less money — as is this black dress.  #IWANT.
