En Hiver

Welp, it was 35 degrees outside this morning.  See ya, fall.  Hello, winter.  The cold snap sent me straight to the Barbour store to pick up a heavy-duty, casual winter coat.  I had my sights set on the quilted utility ($449), which I envisioned wearing with a cozy turtleneck sweater ($85), some lighter-wash jeans (I’ve been rocking a pair of Paiges I own a LOT this season…a nice change of pace), and some comfy herringbone flats ($155):

I’d round it out with a snuggly scarf ($68) and the mini Chloe Marcie (hot. — $695):

But.  Then I saw Barbour’s “Troop Parka” ($599 — but get the look for much less — $169 — here) and had a dilemma on my hands.

Quite possibly the warmest thing I’ve ever placed on these lil shoulders.  Now I’m totally torn — which style do you prefer?  Can’t you imagine rocking the look above in the middle of winter with a roomy knit sweater ($375), some fleece-lined leggings ($18 — another recent investment), and some winter boots ($195 — an upcoming investment):

I’m pretty much convinced I need the mega-artillery for my first winter in Chicago, so I’m wedded to investing in a Barbour, but one other cute fall option I’ve had my eye on: this fur-hooded capelet ($148 — the fur lining is detachable in case it ain’t yo style), which would be darling over a cozy flannel shirt ($88), with broken-in J. Brands ($209) and some classic Minnetonkas ($40):

Cute with a fuss-free leather tote ($160):

All of these looks are perfect for curling up in front of the fire with some cozy cable knit throw pillows ($69+) and a fur throw ($79)

Snuggle up with some treats — I’ve lately been into putting together charcuterie and cheese trays and serving them family style on wood cutting boards / planks, like this darling style ($54):

Who doesn’t love a little meat + cheese with a nice glass of red?

Alright, winter.  Bring it.
