Dog Days

Mr. Magpie and I spent four or five hours Sunday night on our front porch, soaking up balmy, breezy late summer Chicago — it started with some charcuterie and olives and wine and spilled into dinner and then long, late conversation (and more wine).  During these dog days of summer, I reach for unfussy, easy-on pieces that suit the lazy aura.  I have my eye, for example, on this simple striped dress ($128) and this throw-and-go rosary necklace (Tory Burch, $195):

— with these straight-forward gladiators ($106):

Or maybe a drapey striped tee ($39) with a simple (but beautiful!) long necklace (Citrine by the Stones, $420), relaxed-fit jeans and the simplest of ballet flats (Zara, $30):

And finish with one of the beautiful, candy-colored Anabell Ingall ($398-$450 depending on size; some colors here, other colors here) totes below…I have no idea which one I’d go with!

Around the house, I’ve been wearing lots of simple cotton maxis like the one below ($108 — though the exact one I’ve been living in is this one in the “Fizz” color by Monrow, $76 — so, so comfortable), which I’d pair with a long, simple gold necklace ($98) layered atop a simple cross necklace ($62 — I own this and wear it almost every day) and some elegant snakeskin sandals (on sale for $65):

Throw hair up in a topknot, and I’m set.  Or, how about this minimalist top ($175) with some denim shorts ($119 — plus additional 60% off!!!!) and a link necklace (Lanvin, $1,365):

Finish with these fab flats ($136):

These easy breezy looks make me love the lingering haze of summer…
