Distress.

I’ve been eyeballing the distressed jeans trend for some time.  I dipped my toe into the pool with a pair of light-wash J. Brands with some faint distressing (no holes) last year, and have been contemplating an even more dramatic version since.

So, I just ordered two distressed styles from J. Brand and am waiting for them to show up so I can try them on and pick a favorite.  I picked this pair and this pair.  I have been imagining myself wearing them with a delicate pair of earrings (very into this style these days — Kristen Elspeth, $66), a structured top (this Reiss style in mint green is SO on point — $150), and some incredible booties (Lanvin, $1640)

(Alternately, those IRO boots I’ve been going nuts over.)  Finish with rose gold accents in the form of a Vita Fede rose gold bracelet (really love these bad boys — $225), a Giles + Brother cuff ($80), and a screw-accented bangle ($78):

And, the coup de gras, this Alexander Wang Emile with rose gold hardware ($970).  I own one in a glorious camel color and get complimented all the time.  I think this style flew under the radar a bit since everyone gravitated toward the Rocco (also very chic; one of my sisters owns this and it’s gorge.)

Speaking of rose gold, though — so many glorious options out there right now, from these simple everyday studs ($45) to this spike cuff bracelet ($60) to this Sophie Hulme clutch ($525 — PS, I know this pic does not look rose gold, but it is!) or this Eddie Borgo cuff ($315):

I also have to feature this incredible gift my mother gave me for my birthday this year — it’s a cuff bracelet that has the geographic coordinates for Charlottesville, VA engraved on the side (where I fell in love with Mr. Magpie! and where I went to undergrad…aka, my favorite place on earth).  You can get whatever coordinates you want engraved on the side and in whatever color you want (rose gold, gold, silver, etc.)  I wear mine every day.

Lastly, a few other rose gold goodies: a “love” ring ($28); a champagne-flavored candle (Jonathon Adler, $42 — lovely housewarming gift!); and these glorious Manolos ($735)
