Dangly Ones.

Home Alone is, quite possibly, my favorite movie of all time. (Well…certainly my favorite Christmas movie; I think I reserve the title of “all time favorite movie” for When Harry Met Sally — THE wittiest repartee, THE sweetest love story.  Nora Ephron at her finest.)  One of my favorite random throwaway lines in Home Alone, though, is when Mrs. McCallister is trying to convince an elderly couple to sell her their plane tickets so she can get home to her son, and offers her earrings as compensation.  The gruff old man replies: “She’s already got a whole shoebox full of ’em…dangly ones.”  Mr. Magpie and I will randomly quote this line to one another from time to time for no apparent reason.

But today, there’s a reason:

I also happen to love all the statement earrings (the dangly ones) that are out and about RN.  Take the epically chic Jenny Walton, Fashion Director at The Sartorialist — she is virtually never without a great pair of earrings:

Below, my top picks, especially as we edge towards summer weather (glory glory hallelujah):

These ombre tassel earrings from Misa ($96) are AMAZING.  I immediately want to head out to a tikki bar for a mai tai in these, possibly with this Anthro top ($68), which feels like it was MADE for these earrings in the yellow.

Ahhh these Sachin + Babi beaded beauties ($250).  They’ve been on my watch-list for weeks and weeks.

I am smitten with these happy pink tassel earrings from Kate Spade ($98).  Also available in evening-appropriate black.

I hope you’ll forgive me if you’re getting tired of seeing these pom/ball-drop-style earrings, originally popularized by Rebecca de Ravenel’s BonBon earrings (I own a pair and LOVE them — they are surprisingly lightweight!).  I know they’ve been on the fashion scene HARD for the last two seasons.  But they’re so fun!  They’re the new tassel.  And these felt ones from Southern designer Neely Phelan are affordable ($45) and come in the most fun ombre hues.

These beauts ($250) are by Tory Burch and I love the idea of pairing them with a crisp white button down and simple jeans for a cool-girl-chic vibe.

These Deepa Gurnanis are perfection, and at a reasonable price point ($58).  Great color options, too.

These J. Crew beaded floral babies ($65) are stunning.  Great pick for a bride-to-be at her engagement party or shower or even rehearsal dinner.

One of my favorite recent discoveries has been Mignonne Gavigan.  I snagged a pair of their Mini Madeline earrings ($125) for my baby shower and am obsessed with them.  The cutest colors!  I picked up a pair in the white/gold, but am super into those neon colors.

More ombre ball drop earrings, at a fab price ($48).  Love the gold hardware detailing on this pair.

OK, now for a little TREAT for you pretties: GIVEAWAY TIME.  I’ve featured BaubleBar’s Crispin ball drop earrings ($48) a bunch of times because they come in the BEST colors!  I actually just got a lovely pair in cheery yellow.  But today, I’m offering one lucky little lady a pair of these beauts in the crisp white color.  Perfect for wearing with…EVERYTHING…this summer.  If you want them, follow me on Insta and leave a comment on this post.  I’ll announce a winner on Wednesday morning!

P.S. — Quick update: I just announced a winner for the most adorbs baby mocs of all time from Sweet N Swag on Instagram in an Instastory — check it out to see who won!  Also: I’ll be making a similar announcement on Wednesday morning for the lucky owner of the pretty BaubleBar earrings above. xxx, GiveawayGirl (Ha. I’ll admit I’ve been re-watching some Gossip Girl in the wee hours of the morning. #itsbad #itsrealbad)
