Clean Slate.

New year, and a new impulse to refresh the wardrobe with sophisticated pieces in white and black.  Top of my list: this Mansur Gavriel bucket bag in alpine white ($695); striped tee ($44); Sorel boots in oh-so-chic black ($140); and my new Canada Goose coat ($745 – warmest thing on earth, I swear):

For travel, I’ll take this lightweight Tumi suitcase (on sale for $595).  Have I mentioned my deep and abiding love for Tumi?  I own the Tumi Alpha 2 International Zippered Expandable Carry-On and it has gotten me through dozens of trips perfectly.  It’s sturdy, well-designed, fits perfectly into overhead cabin space, and has a convenient expandable function in case you buy more than you expect and then need to check your suitcase.  Brilliant.  I also love the front pouch because it’s big enough to slip your laptop into — easy to pull out for security and then slip back in.  I anticipate this larger Tumi to be just as lovely of a traveling campion.

Other items I love: this striped silk tank ($88) with gussied up lounge pants (fab crepe fabric — $98); crackled leather pointed-toe flats ($158); and this simple gray tote (Gap, $120):

Lastly, dying over these Valentino fringe boots (on sale for $687); this baggy-fit white knit sweater (on sale for $335); and this beyond adorable bow clutch (on sale for $1,164):
