Breaking a Sweat

I know I commented on this new embellished sweatshirt trend earlier this month, but it’s literally blown up.  I don’t know how or why (likely Pinterest), but all the chicest chic peas are sporting this unexpected trend.  The big question for us is: do we let this slide and watch as our more trend-loving friends cringe in a matter of months, when they realize they just tried to glam up pajamas?  Or.  Do we cave?  These little ladies are making a strong argument for the latter:

What do y’all think?  Personally, I’m a fan of this star-embellished glammed up sweatshirt from Givenchy (HA — on sale for $700), paired with black jeggings or leggings and slick OTKs (I FINALLY snagged a pair of Riley OTKs, and they are dreamy — $825):

Finish with this ladylike roll bag (monogrammed — LOVE! — $460), BUT I can’t decide which color I like best…

For something a little more casual, check out this embellished-sleeve sweatshirt (on sale for $49) with some gray or even white (GASP) jeans — yes, you can do it! —

Now, I’ll be honest and say that I spent about an hour trolling around for the right boots for this look.  These Jimmy Choos aren’t it, but they’re the closest I could come to it — they need to be gray, suede, slouchy, mid-calf boots with a mid-heel.  Cannot be found ANYWHERE.  Hence the shoelessness above.  Anyway, refine the above look a little bit with this structured/boxy crossbody ($495):

LOVE. the colors!  For something a bit more fashion-forward, consider this embellished/sequinned sweatshirt ($330) with black skinnies (bonus point for the leather lining!), and some serious booties (on sale for $297):

I’d finish the look with an unexpected burst of color in the form of this Pashli mini (omg, omg — $650)

Dream on.  For the lighter-of-heart, consider this lobster-front sweatshirt from Tibi ($145) with some boyfriend jeans and some rad flats ($135):

Finish with (ideally!) a Balenciaga bag (SWOON — $1,549):

See — not so scary after all?!  Eh?!
