Blue and White Forever.

mirth caftan review

When in doubt, a combination of blue and white never fails to satisfy. I’ve had a fleet of pretty ones hanging within my line of sight the past few days that are just calling for warmer weather. (Seen above: seen below: Mirth’s Sonoma Dress; seen below in front Mille’s Saffron Dress.)

Notes on fit: Mirth runs a tad big for me; I take an XS but could probably take an XXS if they offered it. However (!) — all of the pieces I own of theirs are very cleverly/thoughtfully designed, with self-cinching waists, sleeves that can be pushed up or tugged down, etc. For example, the Sonoma dress above has a cinchable waist that you can tie in the back (as I’ve done above), but you could also easily leave it loose/untied while expecting or for a flowier/looser fit. The pattern on this dress is beyond perfection. It would be lovely for a spring cocktail party/wedding but also just as easy to throw on after a shower and pad around the house in. The material is really soft, brushed, airy cotton and it feels like a nightgown.

Mille (first dress seen below) runs very oversized. I take an XXS and am still swimming in their pieces. I don’t mind the oversized fit, though. I really like the cotton/materials they use — the pieces are always soft and comfortable. I write this pointedly, as I’m currently wearing a Lee Matthews blue and white striped top (that I love the look of, and that I scored on sale at Shopbop for under $100, but which retailed for $450), and it has the same look but is itchy. The Mille Saffron dress below is the kind of thing I reach for without a hesitation on days I’m writing/working from home and/or have only errands or minimal plans. I love the midi length (hits midi on me; I’m 5’0 — taller women might find it hits closer to knee), the effortless fit, the neckline, the way I can wear it with my favorite cheap Amazon seamless racerback bras…pure comfort, but I still feel pulled together and presentable.
