My sister, mother, and I are borderline beauty junkies. We’re constantly comparing notes on the latest lines, products, and their promises for a better this or that. Below, a few items on my cosmetics wishlist.
I’ve heard good things about Moroccanoil’s rose shampoo ($26) and conditioner ($26).
Speaking of rose, this body lotion ($75) from Maison Francis Kurkdjian is supposed to be heavenly. I may have a slight to intense over-obsession with all things rose. (Have I mentioned how much I love my Chantecaille facial oil? I smooth a little all over my skin after moisturizing in the morning. Perfection.)
There’s a whole cult following around Australian line Lano Lanolin — I’m going to start with their “everywhere cream” ($19) a versatile lotion for hands, face, and body. Perfect for travel! And isn’t their packaging to die? Their “101 Balm” is what most people get jazzed up about — an all-purpose ointment for cuticles, scrapes, abrasions, lips, etc. However, I’m a long-time devotee of Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream, which is a similar concept.
Um, a bronzing PRIMER ($74)? To give your skin a base of glimmery, bronzed goodness? Yes, please. I have lusted after so many products of Tom Ford’s but am typically deterred by the hefty price tag. I may have to make an exception for this stuff.
OK, one last rose-centric item: this facial mask ($11+) is supposed to be awesome. I’ve also used Fresh’s rose facial mask, which has bits of actual rose petal in it, and find it really hydrating and renewing. But then again…I’ve heard that people become literal disciples of SKII’s facial masks ($17+)
Bobbi Brown just came out with a product called “Confidence Stick” ($45) which apparently smoothes out wrinkles and fine lines. I’ll be picking this one up STAT. My La Mer eye cream, while pricey, has been working wonders on my eye area, but there’s still this pesky little wrinkle in the middle of my forehead…
I’ve already professed my love for facial oils — and just recently read a jetsetter strongly endorse Herbivore’s orchid facial oil for traveling ($64). Apparently it’s super hydrating.
The same line (Herbivore) has a coconut milk bath soak ($24) that is supposed to be absolutely awesome. I’ve been taking a lot of baths recently — great de-stresser! — with candles, bubbles, and the whole 9 yards. Going to have to give this stuff a whirl. (I’m currently using this bath and shower gel in the tub — I am obsessed with this scent! I use their body oil, lotion, and soap in the same scent!)
This ($98) looks exactly like what should be packed for a vacation to the tropics — smooth on over tanned shoulders for a romantic dinner out…
My sister endorsed the Aesop brand just the other day. I’ve long been a fan of their beautiful packaging, and am going to give this geranium leaf body balm ($35) a go.
