I am currently back in school.
I am completing a week-long executive social entrepreneurship program at Stanford.
It is glorious.
And I share this because I am now convinced that everyone should go back to school for a little bit of their 30s — or at any point after she has been in the workforce for awhile, actually. I have always loved school (nerd alert) and was admittedly borderline giddy at the thought of completing homework and taking notes — but being here, in the thick of an academic environment (and a gorgeous one at that — holymoly), with uber-bright classmates and brilliant faculty around me and nothing in front of me but the unbridled mission to learn over the next few days? It’s a gift.
Also a gift: the glorious 60-something-degree weather out here in Palo Alto. I was able to go for a run in leggings (PS, I need this pair) and a light windbreaker (and promptly embarrass myself by stopping about 34 times to take pictures of palm trees and miscellaneous buildings) and to wear a dress with bare legs and flats today.
But on fashion tap for the rest of the week? A decidedly East Coast approach to the student persona: blazers, skinnies, blouses, stripes, flats. A few items that fit the look I’m going for:
+Striped sweater (on sale for $232);
+Tod’s loafers ($425 — have been living in these);
+Monogrammed Cuyana pouch ($95);
+Plaid button-down (on sale for $69);
+Caged pearl earrings ($110);
+Gold bar cuff ($185);
+Striped button-down ($270 — or there’s the Polo classic)
+Chambray skirt ($88);
+Unexpected camo flats (Valentino, on sale for $687);
+Crisp PJs ($200 — but get the look for less with these lovelies…I’m also obsessed with these);
+Oversized plaid scarf ($45);
+Sturdy carry-all (Mansur Gavriel, $485…if you can ever get your hands on one…! They are constantly selling out!);
+Smythson diary ($260);
+Geek-chic frames (Warby Parker, $95);
+Shinola watch ($625…made here in the USA!)
