Fall Refurb.

By: Jen Shoop

When I came back from my cousin’s stunning wedding in DC yesterday, we went from 95-degree Washington steam to 66-degree Chicago crispness.  It made me very excited to move my summer gear into boxes and to bring out the fall goodness.  Of course my wardrobe is not totally ready, so I’m on the lookout for several key pieces…below, my 8 picks for your autumn closet.

COVET1

Ponchos have been a thing for the last 5 years or so, and this year will be no different.  I really (!!!) need this Alexander McQueen getup ($775).  I feel like it would add just the right level of edge to a simple black jeans-and-tee look.

I also love this style in the gray ($155), this longer-length Club Monaco steal (color palette is SO cozy — $198), this cool textured/fringed style (on sale for $131!), or this Anthro find, which is SO Chloe-esque ($198).

AND — this Maje style ($220) is MAJOR.  And this one looks super cozy, too ($148).

Finally — not quite a poncho — but this sweater is ZE BEST.  And $130.  Boom.

COVET2

OK, I’m kind of caving on the backless loafer situation — I want the Gucci Princetowns ($595).  But if i don’t feel like I can pony up the $$ for this potentially flash-in-the-pan trend, these ($135) are also looking pretty slick.  And, of course, there’s a classic (loafer-less) Jenni Kayne slide ($395) — a fashionista staple for the past few seasons.

Chunky knits are all the rage, and I love this style ($60).

Also love (!!!) this $46 blush style (Mom — SO YOU!), this camel style ($118), and this Isabel Marant ($470).  And, this Gap style cain’t do you wrong ($69) — especially with all of the great random 40% off codes they’re constantly featuring.

COVET4

Bow-front blouses have been all over the place.  I like this affordable find from Banana ($78) or this J. Crew stunner ($118) — or this budget-friendly pick ($50).

COVET5

I may have mentioned how much I LOVE Tibi shift dresses like this one ($395) and this one ($395 also) — they’re a great shape and length in a forgiving, thick fabric.  But GUYS.  This Banana style ($118) — in a similar vein! — is BANANAS.  I love love love it.  And this maroon steal ($35) is also pretty chic.

COVET6

I know I’ve featured lots of variations of funky ruffled poplin striped pieces, but this $49 steal from H+M is just THE BEST.  Looks so high end and fancy.  But I also love this $129 style from Shakuhachi.  #UGH.  If the ruffle situation is too frou-frou, try this more straight-forward style ($69).

COVET7

I know I’ve featured these suede booties on the blog a bajillion times but this affordable find from Dolce Vita ($96) is at the top of my list!  I also love these ($109) in all 3 colors and these ($195) in the cement color.

COVET8

I’ve never met an oversized scarf I don’t love.  These large plaid styles from Old Navy ($23) are such a great find!

I also love this plaid style ($29) from Zara and this textured find ($35) from Modcloth.

AND P.S.  Unrelated.  But I think this sweater wrap dress from DVF is…genius.  It’d be like wearing a robe to work!  Holy cow.  Looks so comfy, so chic.  Nice work DVF.
